How we use this data
Everything Sendero collects is used to operate the app's core functionality:
- Authentication and account management — recognizing you when you sign in and securing your account
- Social features — connecting you with friends, displaying your posts and content to people you choose to share with, delivering messages
- Ranch operations — letting ranch managers track guests, harvests, waivers, and other ranch records you participate in
- Notifications — delivering in-app and push notifications you have enabled in your settings
We do not use your data for:
- Advertising or marketing to you
- Selling or renting to third parties
- Profiling, behavioral analysis, or building user profiles for commercial use
- Tracking you across other apps or websites
Who else handles this data
Sendero relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each handles a specific, limited piece of your data:
- Supabase— hosts our database and authentication system. Your account data and app content are stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
- Google— if you choose to sign in with Google, Google handles the authentication on our behalf. Google receives your email address as part of that process. You can read Google's privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Apple— if you use Sendero through the App Store or TestFlight, Apple processes your device's push notification delivery and your App Store account. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Expo— Sendero is built on the Expo platform and uses Expo's push notification service to deliver pushes to your device. Push tokens transit through Expo's servers.
These providers act as data processors on our behalf. We do not share your data with them for their own marketing or analytical purposes. We do not share your data with any other third party.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access — view all the information Sendero has about you. Most of this is visible in the app under your Account screen.
- Correct — update inaccurate or incomplete information through your Account screen or by emailing us.
- Delete— permanently delete your account from within the app (Account screen → Delete Account). Deletion is processed within 24 hours and includes removing your personal information from our database. Records you created in shared ranch contexts (such as harvest logs or photos uploaded to a ranch) may be retained by the ranch in anonymized form (your name will display as "Deleted User"), since those records also belong to the ranch's operational history.
- Export — if you would like a copy of your data in a portable format, email us and we will provide it.
- Withdraw consent — disable specific notification types in your Account settings at any time.
If you are located in California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), you have additional statutory rights under those laws. Contact us at the email above and we will honor them.
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal information is anonymized or deleted within 24 hours. Some operational records (such as harvest logs you created at a ranch) may be retained by the ranch in anonymized form as part of the ranch's own history.
If your account is inactive for an extended period, we may reach out via your contact email before taking any action.
Children
Sendero is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to Sendero, please email us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect your data using industry-standard practices, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) between your device and our servers, encryption at rest in our database, and role-based access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard your information.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Sendero after a policy change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
